Chapter 3 · Practice 1 of 4
Script the demo as a short user story and rehearse it exactly
Why it matters
A demo should show a real user solving the problem, not a tour of every screen. Use the walkthrough you wrote in your proposal and update it to what you built:
- A pharmacist signs in on the phone.
- They scan a batch and enter its expiry date.
- The dashboard shows batches expiring in the next 30 days.
- A reminder arrives for a batch due next week.
- The owner opens the monthly report showing stock saved.
Write the exact steps, the data you will enter and what should appear at each step. Rehearse the same script every time, so the path through the system is tested and familiar. Two to five minutes is usually enough for the core demo; keep extra features ready in case the panel asks.
Do
- Write the exact steps and data for the demo
- Rehearse the same script repeatedly
Avoid
- Improvising a tour of every screen on the day
