Stage 9 · Lesson 5 of 5
Docs first and the fundamentals that last
Two habits keep you independent. First, read the of a language, library or tool before asking a model about it, especially for anything tied to a version; docs are current and correct, and reading them is a skill jobs expect.
Second, keep investing in fundamentals no tool replaces: data structures and algorithms, how HTTP and databases work, reading unfamiliar code, debugging, , testing and explaining ideas clearly. These are what you use to judge AI output; without them you cannot tell good code from plausible code, and coding rounds in hiring still test them.
A simple test of understanding is to explain a concept or your own code aloud without notes, as if to a classmate.
Common trapskipping the basics because the tool can write them, then being unable to review the tool.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 3 cheat sheet entries come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
