Stage 6 · Lesson 5 of 7
Answering "why did you switch?"
You will be asked why you are moving into tech, in conversations, applications and interviews. So prepare now. A good one is short and specific.
It names a moment or problem that pulled you in, what you did about it, and why this role in particular. For example: "In my accounting job I kept rebuilding the same reports by hand, so I learned to automate them, and I realised I enjoyed that more than the accounting itself.
lets me do that full time, and my finance background helps." Practise it out loud until you can say it calmly.
Common trapleading with salary or complaints about your old career, which makes the move sound like escape.
