Stage 5 · Lesson 6 of 7
Certificates, used sensibly
help in two ways: as structured learning and as a small signal. They count most in fields with recognised exams, such as , cloud and security, where some employers filter on them. For most developer and analyst roles, though, many applicants hold the same beginner certificate.
So it rarely decides a hire. Use a certificate course to learn, then build a project with those skills. Put the project first on your resume.
Before paying, check the price, the options, and whether employers in your market mention the certificate in their postings.
Common trapcollecting certificates to feel ready instead of building something that proves you are.
