Tibbles and the dplyr verbs

R for data: the tidyverse

In the , a data frame is usually a : a table that prints neatly and warns you about problems instead of guessing. Load files with read_csv from readr, then look at them with glimpse() for columns and types. gives you a small set of verbs that cover most data work: filter keeps rows, select keeps columns, mutate adds or changes columns, arrange sorts, and group_by with summarise computes totals per group.

The native pipe |> passes each result into the next step, so an analysis reads top to bottom like a recipe. Learn these six verbs until you can write them without looking.

Common trapbuilding one enormous pipe of thirty steps without checking the data in between, so an early mistake flows silently into every result.
