Stage 7 · Lesson 4 of 7
Notice periods and leaving well
Your is how long you must keep working after you resign. It is set in your contract and is often shorter during probation. It matters whenever you accept a new offer, because your start date must fit around it.
When you leave, tell your manager in person or on a call before you put it in writing. Hand over your work with written notes, finish or reassign open tasks, and thank the people who helped you. Ask for a written or reference where that is normal in your country. Tech communities are small, and former colleagues give for years.
Common trapaccepting an offer with a start date that ignores your notice period, or leaving a mess behind that follows your name.
