Forward deployed and solutions engineering

Stage 2 · Lesson 5 of 6

Cloud basics: deploy, secrets, identity and networks

Core engineering you still need

customers run on , Azure or Google Cloud, and many deployments stall on permissions or networking rather than code. Learn one cloud well enough to deploy a small service, store in a secrets manager, read logs, and understand identity and access management (IAM), which decides who may do what.

Learn the basics of private networks (VPCs), firewalls and why a service inside a customer network may not reach the internet. When something cannot connect, you should be able to tell whether it is identity, network or code.

Common trapasking for broad administrator access to move faster, which security teams rightly refuse and which marks you as careless.
