Masters and scholarships abroad

Stage 8 · Lesson 3 of 8

Working within your visa rules

Making the degree count

Most student visas allow limited part-time work during term and more during official breaks. Some also restrict the kind of work or require permission. These matter.

Breaking them can end your visa and affect future applications, even if an employer says it is fine. Learn your exact limit from the official page. Count hours carefully if you have more than one job, and keep your payslips.

Part-time work helps with costs and experience. But it rarely covers tuition, and too many hours hurt grades. Research and roles may count as work too.

Common trapplanning your budget around work income you cannot legally earn, or taking cash jobs with no record.
