Stage 1 · Lesson 7 of 7
Market pay for your level and city
Look up the for your role at your level, in your city or remote market. Use for the companies it covers, and or local salary surveys for the rest. Write down a realistic pay range and where each figure came from.
Note whether each figure is base pay (the fixed salary) or (salary plus bonus, shares and other pay). Mixing the two makes any comparison meaningless. You will need this number later, when a recruiter asks your expectations and when you negotiate an offer, so it is worth getting right now.
Common trap on one viral salary post, or on the pay of a different level; always compare the same role, level and location.
