Stage 1 · Lesson 7 of 9

Promises and async/await

JavaScript and TypeScript

Network calls, storage reads and permission requests all return in . A Promise is a value that arrives later. It starts pending, then is either fulfilled with a value or rejected with an error.

async and await let you write that like ordinary code: const res = await fetch(url). Use Promise.all to run independent requests together. Use Promise.allSettled when you want every result even if some fail.

runs your code on one thread, so await does not freeze the app, but a long loop that never pauses does.

Common trapa forgotten await, which gives you a Promise instead of the data, and an unhandled rejection that fails quietly.
