Tech roles beyond coding

Stage 2 · Lesson 6 of 9

Git, GitHub and pull requests

Technical literacy

records every change to a set of files over time, so you can see who changed what and undo mistakes. GitHub and GitLab host Git repositories, which are project folders with their full history. They add pull requests, also called merge requests.

A pull request is a proposed change with a description, a line-by-line view of what changed, and a discussion. Reviewers comment there before the change is merged into the main version. and use this every day for docs and samples.

read pull requests to understand what actually changed. Learn to clone a , create a branch, commit a change, open a pull request and respond to review. A branch is your own working copy, and a commit is one saved step.

Common trapavoiding Git because you are not an engineer. It is one of the most practical skills in this roadmap, and the later stages on docs and portfolios depend on it.

A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come with the full roadmap. Unlock
