Where to apply

Add to the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology page

This page is only as good as what students who have been through it are willing to share. Universities publish the rules, but not how the test felt, where merit closed or how long the wait for a list was. One account from someone who applied is worth more than anything I can find online.

What are you adding?

This decides how the claim is labelled on the page. Only someone representing the university can produce an “official” label, and I check that separately.

Year and month.

Comma separated topics, not the questions themselves.

Dates, the test format, where merit closed and how long each step took are the parts nobody else publishes.

How to actually get in

  • GIKI admits on its own test: 85% of merit is the admission test and 15% is Matric/SSC. Your FSc marks only need to clear the 60% bar in Maths, Physics and overall.
  • The computing programmes (AI, CS, Cyber Security, Data Science, SE) accept HSSC with Maths, Physics and any third subject, so ICS and Pre-Engineering both qualify. Computer Engineering follows the engineering rules, where Pre-Medical students need Additional Mathematics.
  • Prepare intermediate Physics and Maths plus English for the MCQ test, using the syllabus and sample paper GIKI publishes.
  • Apply for PEEF, KP scholarships and GIK financial assistance with the admission form: some schemes can only be requested at that point, and financial assistance adds Rs. 1,000 to the processing fee.
  • The 2025-26 semester fee of Rs. 470,000 includes hostel accommodation, since the campus is residential.

About Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology

GIK Institute traces back to an idea of the late Ghulam Ishaq Khan for a centre of excellence in engineering sciences. Its parent body, the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST), was registered in June 1988. The Frontier (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Government promulgated the Institute's ordinance in March 1993, and the first batch of students was inducted that year. The first batch graduated in 1997 and graduate programmes started in 2001. The campus is residential and teaching is in English.

The Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FCSE) offers bachelor's degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science and Software Engineering. The BS Computer Engineering is accredited by PEC and the other five by NCEAC, according to the faculty. The BS AI curriculum was developed with Huawei and first taken in Fall 2020.

At graduate level FCSE offers MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security, and PhD in Computer Engineering and Computer Science. FCSE undergraduates must also complete 15 hours of community service and a summer industrial training with a written report, and the Institute requires at least 8 weeks of industrial training for every degree.
