Where to apply

Add to the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology page

This page is only as good as what students who have been through it are willing to share. Universities publish the rules, but not how the test felt, where merit closed or how long the wait for a list was. One account from someone who applied is worth more than anything I can find online.

What are you adding?

This decides how the claim is labelled on the page. Only someone representing the university can produce an “official” label, and I check that separately.

Year and month.

Comma separated topics, not the questions themselves.

Dates, the test format, where merit closed and how long each step took are the parts nobody else publishes.

  • Fall bachelors: Online registration opened on 15 April 2026 and documents had to be uploaded by 5 May 2026. The computer-based pre-admission test ran district-wise from 22 May 2026, with interviews the next day. Classes for the 26 batch started on 20 July 2026. MUET admits undergraduates once a year.

These are the months each cycle has usually run, read from the cycle named beside them. Exact dates are announced by the university every year, so check the admissions page before you plan around them.

How admission works

  1. 1
    Online applicationBachelors (BS)

Register at ugadmissions.muet.edu.pk, pay the processing fee through the generated HBL challan, and upload the paid challan, SSC and HSC-I/II or DAE marks certificates, photograph, domicile, PRC (Form C) and CNIC, B-form or FRC before the deadline.

  2. 2
    Entry testBachelors (BS)

Admit slips are issued through the portal. Candidates who do not complete their documents within seven days of being told are not allowed to sit the test. A score below 40% disqualifies the candidate.

  3. 3

The merit list for each district is displayed on the same day as that district's test, ranked by Composite Percentage Number (CPN).

How merit is worked out

Bachelors (BS)

Who can apply

  • BE Computer Systems and BE Software: HSC Part-I passed in the 2025 annual exam, or HSC Part-II passed up to 2023, with at least 60% (no grace marks) in Pre-Engineering or General Science. Candidates admitted on HSC-I must score 60% in HSC-II or the admission is cancelled without refund.

  • BS Computer Science: 60% in Pre-Engineering, General Science, or Pre-Medical on condition of clearing Foundation Mathematics I and II in the first year. BS Cyber Security and BS Artificial Intelligence: 60% in Pre-Engineering or General Science.

  • Self-financing seats need a Sindh domicile, the same academic eligibility as the regular scheme, and at least 40% in the pre-admission test.

Regular-scheme seats are divided by district and by urban and rural quota across Sindh, with 20 seats for Karachi Division, and the discipline is allotted on interview day from whatever seats remain in your district. Self-financing and University Support Programme seats run alongside at a higher fee. Figures are for the 2026-27 (26 batch) cycle.

Computing programmes and course outlines

The Software Engineering department states that its BS programmes follow the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) structure and its BE programme follows PEC guidelines, and the prospectus says BSCS complies with HEC standards and NCEAC accreditation guidelines. No NCEAC or PEC accreditation certificate for a specific computing programme was found, so accreditation is left blank.

Companies that recruit from here

Many alumni work there· A large number of graduates work there, on public profiles or in reporting.

Each link says how the company is tied to the university and where that is published. It is not a claim that the company hires only from here, or that a degree from here guarantees an interview.

Rankings

How to actually get in

  • One intake a year. Registration opened mid-April in the 2026 cycle and documents closed on 5 May, so have your SSC, HSC-I, domicile and PRC ready before April.
  • The test is 60% of merit. CPN = 10% SSC + 30% HSC-I + 60% pre-admission test. Below 40% on the test you are out, whatever your marks.
  • Prepare all four parts. The sample paper has 25 questions each of English, Physics, Mathematics (or Biology) and Chemistry (or Computer Science) from the XI and XII syllabus.
  • Your district decides your seat. Merit lists and interviews run district by district, and the discipline is allotted on interview day from the seats left in your district, so attend on your scheduled day with every original document and your guardian.
  • General Science students can apply for BE Computer Systems, BE Software, BS Computer Science, BS AI and BS Cyber Security, but not other BE disciplines.
  • Bring cash on interview day. In 2026-27 that was Rs. 91,550 for BE and Rs. 147,050 for BS.

About Mehran University of Engineering and Technology

Mehran University of Engineering and Technology began in 1963 as the Sindh University Engineering College and became a university on 1 March 1977 through a Government of Sindh ordinance that was later made an Act of the Sindh Assembly. The main campus is at Jamshoro, near Hyderabad.

Computing is spread across several departments. The Department of Computer Systems Engineering runs a BE in Computer Systems Engineering. The Department of Software Engineering runs the BE in Software Engineering and a BS in Artificial Intelligence, and the 2026-27 prospectus places the BS Computer Science programme under it as well. The BS in Cyber Security is run by the Department of Telecommunication Engineering. A PhD in Software Engineering is also taught.

The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (SZAB) Campus at Khairpur Mir's was set up in 2009 as a constituent college and upgraded to a MUET campus in 2013. It teaches BE Software Engineering, and the 2026-27 prospectus lists BS Computer Science and BS Cyber Security there under the self-financing scheme, subject to approval.

Undergraduate seats under the regular scheme are allocated by district and urban or rural quota across Sindh, so where a candidate's domicile is matters as much as the merit score.

Every claim here is labelled

Admission dates, tests, merit formulas and fees change every cycle, and not all of it is published in one place. Every claim here is labelled with its source and how well established it is. Treat the university's own admissions page as the last word, and tell me when something is out of date.

Nobody pays to be listed here, and nothing on this page is sponsored. Universities cannot buy a higher position or have a profile removed on request, though I will correct anything that is wrong.
