How to actually get in

  • Take TCAT as well as ECAT if you can. UET Taxila accepts either, and TCAT runs several sessions through the year.
  • Your HSSC Part I marks carry half the merit. The formula is 50% HSSC Part I, 33% entry test and 17% matric.
  • Pre-medical students have a real route into BS Computer Science: one third of CS seats in every category are reserved for them, with a 50% minimum.
  • Software Engineering here is a PEC engineering degree with a 60% minimum, while BS Computer Science and the engineering technology programmes need 50%.
  • Pay first-semester dues on time if you want to stay in the running for a higher preference in later merit lists.

About University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila

UET Taxila started in 1975 as the University College of Engineering, a constituent college of UET Lahore that ran at Sahiwal for three years before moving to its campus outside Taxila in 1978. It became an independent university under the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila Ordinance in October 1993. The 2025 undergraduate prospectus puts enrolment above 5,500 students on a 163-acre campus about 35 km from Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Computing sits mainly in the Faculty of Telecommunication and Information Engineering. The Department of Computer Engineering started its B.Sc. in 2001 and runs the Swarm Robotics Lab under the National Centre of Robotics and Automation. The Department of Software Engineering offers a B.Sc. Software Engineering that the department says is PEC-accredited for all graduated batches, which makes it an engineering degree rather than a computing one. The Department of Computer Science offers a BS Computer Science that admits pre-medical students into a reserved share of seats.

The Department of Telecommunication Engineering also runs afternoon B.Sc. Engineering Technology programmes in Cyber Security and Software Engineering. Admission to engineering and computer science is based on ECAT or UET Taxila's own test (TCAT).

Every claim here is labelled

Admission dates, tests, merit formulas and fees change every cycle, and not all of it is published in one place. Every claim here is labelled with its source and how well established it is. Treat the university's own admissions page as the last word, and tell me when something is out of date.

Nobody pays to be listed here, and nothing on this page is sponsored. Universities cannot buy a higher position or have a profile removed on request, though I will correct anything that is wrong.
