  • Fall bachelors: The admissions schedule page said admissions were open for Fall 2026 at the time of review but gave no opening, closing or test dates. Entry tests and interviews are scheduled on the admit card issued when you apply.

These are the months each cycle has usually run, read from the cycle named beside them. Exact dates are announced by the university every year, so check the admissions page before you plan around them.

How admission works

  1. 1

Apply online or at the admissions office

Official · UMT Admissions Schedule, Fall 2026 +1
    Online application

Online: sign up at onlineadmissions.umt.edu.pk, fill in the form, pay the Rs. 2,000 processing fee through an HBL voucher and upload the paid voucher. In person: get a token at C-II Johar Town, receive career counselling and a VPN number, then buy and submit the form. UMT alumni pay no form or admission fee.

  2. 2
    Entry test

The admit card gives the test or interview date. SST BS programmes need at least 50% in the admission test.

  3. 3
    Merit listBachelors (BS)

Undergraduate merit is 50% intermediate, 30% entrance test and 20% matric, plus an interview if required.

  4. 4
    Fee and confirmation

Pay the voucher at a listed bank. The Rs. 30,000 admission fee is charged with the first instalment and is non-refundable; a Rs. 5,000 registration fee is charged each semester.

  5. 5

Submit documents and get a student ID

Official · UMT BS Admission Guide 2026 (PDF)
    Document verification

After payment, submit all required documents, receive the student ID and card, then attend orientation and course registration.

Entry tests they consider

  • UMT Entry Test (or NTS)

University's own testOfficial · UMT Admission Requirements 2026

    For bachelors

SST BS programmes (CS, SE, AI, DS, Cyber Security, IT, Blockchain, Gaming) need at least 50% in the admission test. Some School of Engineering technology programmes accept either an NTS or UMT entry test at 50%.

    About this test
  • Engineering test of an HEC-approved testing entity

National testOfficial · UMT Admission Requirements 2026 +1

    For bachelors

The admission criteria page asks BS Computer Engineering applicants for at least 33% in an engineering test from an HEC-approved testing body. The programme page instead lists 50% in the admission test, so confirm which applies with the admissions office.

  • GAT (NTS) or UMT UGAT

National testOfficial · UMT Admission Requirements 2026 +1

    For masters, phd

MS computing programmes need at least 50% in GAT or UGAT plus an interview. PhD Computer Science needs 60% in GAT or 70% in UGAT plus an interview.

How merit is worked out

Who can apply

  • BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, IT, Cyber Security and AI: intermediate, HSSC, A level or equivalent with at least 50% marks, no third division in matric, and at least 50% in the admission test. Students without Mathematics at intermediate (for example Pre-Medical) must pass 6 credit hours of deficiency mathematics in the first two semesters.

  • BS Computer Engineering: at least 60% in FSc Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical or ICS with Mathematics and Physics, DAE or A level, no third division in matric (the programme page says at least 45% in matric), plus the entry test requirement.

  • MS Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, Information Security and IT: a 4-year bachelor's in a relevant discipline with at least CGPA 2.0 (or 50% in an annual system), at least 50% in GAT or UGAT, and an interview.

  • PhD Computer Science: MS/MPhil or 18 years of relevant education with at least CGPA 3.0 or 60%, plus 60% in GAT or 70% in UGAT, and an interview.

UMT admits students in fall and spring, and publishes a single merit rule for undergraduates: 50% intermediate, 30% entry test, 20% matric. Fees are billed in quarterly (half-semester) instalments, and the programme fee can be revised during the degree.

Computing programmes and course outlines

SST's BS roadmaps use the HEC computing course codes and categories (computing core, domain core, general education, including Civics and Community Engagement and the Fehm-e-Quran courses), and the BS Computer Science page says the programme meets HEC criteria and maps its outcomes to the Seoul Accord attributes. UMT lists NCEAC on its accreditations page without naming which computing programmes are accredited, so no programme is marked accredited here.

Scholarships and financial aid

  • Merit scholarships on intermediate marks

For most BS programmes in 2026: position holders get 100% plus free transport and housing or a tablet; 95% and above gets 50% (7 seats), 90 to 94.99% gets 40% (13 seats), 85 to 89.99% gets 30% (13 seats). Tuition fee only, and a minimum CGPA must be kept to retain it.

  • ILM Scholarship Fund (need-based)

For financially distressed students after document review and an interview. It is Qarz-e-Hasna, repaid in monthly instalments after graduation.

  • Remote Area Scholarship

Up to 50% tuition waiver for students from designated remote areas with at least 60% or CGPA 2.5.

  • Kinship, alumni and ILM College discounts

20% tuition waiver for kin of alumni and current students; alumni pay no admission or form fee; ILM College students get a 15% tuition waiver.

  • Other waivers

Orphans (up to 20 to 30%), children of Shuhada (50%), differently-abled students (pay at most 50%), outstanding sportspeople (up to 100%), minority students (Justice A R Cornelius Scholarship).

How to actually get in

  • Intermediate marks carry half the merit. Undergraduate merit is 50% intermediate, 30% entry test and 20% matric, so your FSc or ICS result matters more than the test.
  • Clear 50% on the test for any SST programme (CS, SE, AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, IT).
  • Budget for the whole degree. Fees are quoted as a 4-year total paid quarterly: about Rs. 2.29M for CS or AI, Rs. 2.19M for SE and Rs. 1.89M for Data Science or Cyber Security in 2026, plus a Rs. 30,000 admission fee and Rs. 5,000 per semester registration.
  • Check the merit scholarship slabs. 85% or more in intermediate qualifies for 30 to 50% off tuition for a limited number of seats, and the waiver continues only while you keep the required CGPA.
  • Pre-Medical students can join computing programmes but must take 6 credit hours of deficiency maths.
  • Sialkot offers CS, SE, AI and IT on the same fee schedule.

About University of Management and Technology

UMT grew out of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), set up in 1990 by educationists, professionals and industrialists. The University of Management and Technology, Lahore Act 2004 was passed by the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in May 2004, making it a private sector chartered university. The main campus is at C-II Johar Town, Lahore, and there is a campus in Sialkot.

Computing sits mainly in the School of Systems and Technology (SST), which runs BS programmes in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Blockchain Technology and Gaming and Immersive Media, a post-ADP BS Computer Science, weekend MS programmes in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science, Information Security, Information Technology and Software Project Management, and PhDs in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. The School of Engineering runs BS Computer Engineering, and the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CASTECH) runs two-year associate degrees in Computer Science, AI and Software Engineering.

UMT's Office of Corporate Linkages and Placements (OCLP) runs an annual career fair, on-campus recruitment drives and a co-op programme that places students with employers in their final semester.
