Final Year Project Presentation and Defence Best Practices

Chapter 7 · Practice 3 of 3

Record the panel's feedback and act on it

From Rehearse, prepare the day and follow up

Why it matters

Many defences end with requested changes to the report or the system before final approval. Others give feedback after the mid evaluation that should shape the rest of the project.

Right after your slot:

  • Write down every comment and requested change while you remember them; have one member take notes during questions.
  • Confirm with your supervisor which changes are required and the deadline.
  • Make the changes and keep a short change log, as you did for the proposal.

After the final defence, also note what you would do differently. That reflection is useful for the next project you build and when you describe this one to employers or in a master's application.

Do

  • Have one member note all comments during questions
  • Keep a change log of corrections

Avoid

  • Relying on memory for requested changes
