What GitHub Copilot is
is GitHub's AI assistant, and it appears in several places. In VS Code, JetBrains IDEs and Visual Studio it gives , chat and agents that edit files and run commands. The brings an agent to your terminal.
On GitHub itself, Copilot can review and a can work on an issue and open a pull request. Copilot Free has monthly limits, and verified students can get the Copilot Student plan through GitHub Education. Features differ by plan, so check the plans page before relying on one.
Because Copilot lives where many teams already work, in the editor and on pull requests, you will meet it at university and at work.
