Referrals and networking without awkwardness
A is when someone inside a company recommends you for a role. Referrals get applications read. For a , a person vouching for you makes up for an unusual resume.
The comfortable way to earn a warm referral is slow and genuine. Have useful conversations, share progress now and then, and help others where you can. Ask for a referral only when there is a specific role and the person knows your work.
A good ask is specific and easy to decline: "Your team has a analyst opening. Would you be comfortable referring me? Here is my resume and my best project."
Common trapmessaging strangers "Can you refer me?" with no context, which rarely works and feels uncomfortable for both people.
