Choosing the right database

Stage 1 · Lesson 5 of 6

The questions to ask before naming a product

Start from the data, not the product

Put the last few topics together into a short list you answer for every project. What shapes is the data? What are the top ?

How big will it get in a year? Which data must be exact? Does anything need full-text search, similarity search or reports over all the data?

Where will the app run, and is there a cloud or a budget already chosen? Who will look after the database, and do they know it already? Write the answers in a few lines at the top of your project . They make the choice explainable to a teammate, a supervisor or a client.

Common trapstarting from "I want to learn " or "everyone uses " and then bending the project to fit the tool.

A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 2 cheat sheet entries come with the full roadmap. Unlock
