Stage 2 · Lesson 4 of 8
Tenants, subscriptions and resource groups
Azure has a clear hierarchy. A Microsoft Entra holds your users and groups. Management groups contain subscriptions, and a subscription is the billing and boundary.
Inside a subscription, groups collect the resources that belong together, such as everything for one app in one environment. Access, policies and budgets are assigned at any of these scopes and flow downwards. Deleting a resource group deletes everything in it, which makes clean-up of a lab easy. Name resource groups by app and environment from day one.
Common trapmixing unrelated projects in one resource group, so you cannot delete, budget or grant access to one without touching the others.
