Data analytics

Stage 1 · Lesson 6 of 6

Personal data, privacy and responsibility

How analysts think

Analysts often see : names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, salaries, health or payment details. Laws control how this data can be collected, stored and shared. Examples are the EU GDPR and national data protection rules in many countries, and employers add their own policies.

In practice, use only the data you need. Combine it into totals, or remove names and other identifiers, before you share anything. Keep files only in approved places.

Never paste real personal or company data into public tools, AI chats or portfolios. This affects your learning too: every on this roadmap uses public or made-up data.

Common trapcopying a work extract to a personal laptop or a public "just to practise", which can cost you the job.

A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come with the full roadmap. Unlock
