Stage 5 · Lesson 7 of 7

Booking, retakes and sending scores

English tests and the GRE

Book your test two to four months before your first deadline, so you have time for one retake. Test dates fill up in busy seasons, and some tests take up to two weeks to release scores. Learn how scores reach universities.

With some tests, the testing body sends an directly and charges for extra recipients. Some universities verify scores online. Others ask you to upload a copy first and send the official report after an offer.

Check too, so your result is still valid when you apply. Match the name on your test booking exactly to your passport. Keep a copy of every score report.

Common trapbooking the test a week before the deadline, getting a score just below the requirement in one section and having no time to retake.
