MongoDB

Stage 1 · Lesson 5 of 8

An Atlas free cluster or a local server

Documents and your setup

You have two good ways to run MongoDB. Atlas is MongoDB's hosted cloud service, and its free tier (formerly called M0) gives you 0.5 GB of storage, a three-member and the in a few clicks. Its limits, such as operations per second and connections, are fine for learning.

Alternatively, install MongoDB , the free self-managed edition, on your computer, or run the official image in Docker. A local server has no quotas and works offline. Either way, install a current 8.x release and use the same version the course or project expects.

Common traprunning a standalone local server and later finding that transactions and need a replica set, which Atlas gives you from the start.
