Test management and tracking tools
Teams track bugs in an , most often . They manage and test runs either with Jira add-ons such as Xray or Zephyr, or in separate tools such as TestRail. The ideas are the same in every tool.
A stores the test cases. Test plans or cycles group the cases for one release. Each test execution records pass, fail or blocked.
Links connect each test to the requirement it covers and the bugs it found. That web of links is called , and it answers the questions managers ask before a release. You do not need to pay for any tool to learn this. A free Jira plan, or even a well-organised spreadsheet, teaches the ideas.
Common trapkeeping hundreds of stale cases that nobody runs, which gives a false picture of coverage.
