Stage 1 · Lesson 1 of 7
Why testing exists
Testing means running software, or reviewing what it is built from, to find defects (bugs). It also gives people evidence about quality, so they can decide whether to release. The is not to prove the software has no bugs.
It can show bugs in the cases you tried, but never that none are left. This is one of the . That is why good testers think about risk and choose tests carefully, instead of trying to check everything.
The job is about information as much as bugs: a tester tells the team what works, what does not, and how sure they can be.
Common trapseeing QA (quality assurance) as the last gate that "signs off" quality, when the whole team builds quality and testing is how you measure it.
