Remote jobs

Stage 1 · Lesson 4 of 8

Async habits

Are you ready for remote?

Asynchronous (async) work means people do not have to be online at the same time to make progress. Say you have a question. Instead of waiting for a call, you write it down with enough context for someone else to answer.

You keep working on something else and pick up the answer later. Good habits start with writing decisions down where others can find them. Update as you go.

Record a short screen video instead of booking a meeting. Reply within a time you have agreed with the team. Teams spread across time zones depend on this, which is why interviews ask about it. Good async habits also mean you need fewer shared hours, which is the next topic.

Common traptreating chat like a phone call and stopping all work until each reply arrives.

A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come with the full roadmap. Unlock
