Stage 1 · Lesson 3 of 6
Family, partner and the life around the job
A move changes more than your desk. Ask early whether your spouse or children can come with you, how soon, and whether your partner may work there. Each visa sets its own rules for (family members who join you on your visa), and some need a before you can sponsor them.
Think about parents who rely on you, flights home for emergencies, schooling, food, faith and community, climate and language. Talk to your family with numbers and a timeline, and agree what happens if the job ends in the first year.
Common trapaccepting an offer alone and assuming the family can follow later, then learning the salary or the visa does not allow it.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 2 cheat sheet entries come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
