Stage 3 · Lesson 5 of 6

UK and Ireland: when qualifications are checked

Degrees, attestation and documents

The UK is tied to the job, its skill level and its salary, not to a degree. The degree comes in elsewhere: some employers check it, and you can use a degree taught in English to meet the English language rule if UK ENIC (run by Ecctis) confirms it is equivalent to a UK degree.

For Ireland, the can depend on holding a relevant degree, and the differ for people with and without one, so keep an attested copy of your degree and transcripts ready. Employers usually also run on education and past jobs.

Common traplisting a degree or grade on your CV that you cannot prove with original documents, which can end an offer at the background check.
