Chapter 2 · Practice 4 of 5
Write titles and descriptions that say exactly what the post does
Why it matters
A clear title helps readers decide in a search result or feed, and it helps search engines understand the page. Google's SEO starter guide describes a good title as unique to the page, clear and concise, and accurately describing the content.
Compare:
| Weak | Clear |
|---|---|
| My journey with databases | Add a connection pool to fix PostgreSQL connection errors |
| You won't believe this React trick | Avoid stale state in React effects with functional updates |
| Thoughts on deployment | Deploy Next.js to a VPS with Nginx and HTTPS |
Clever titles can work on social platforms where people already follow you. For anything you want found later, be plain and specific.
Do
- Name the technology and the result in the title
