Chapter 7 · Practice 1 of 4
Use your department's latest template and fill every section
Why it matters
Departments publish proposal templates and expect them to be followed. The University of Lahore's Islamabad campus guidelines, for example, require the latest template from the FYP site and deduct marks for late submission. FAST's proposal form asks for the FYP type, a brief description, the UN Sustainable Development Goals the project targets, and the core courses whose algorithms and knowledge it uses.
Before submitting:
- Download the template again; it may have changed since a senior shared theirs.
- Fill every section, even ones that feel minor, such as SDGs or relevant courses.
- Respect page limits and formatting.
- Get all signatures needed, usually the supervisor's, before the deadline.
A proposal that ignores the template signals carelessness before anyone reads the idea.
Do
- Download the latest template from the department
- Fill every section, including SDGs or course mapping if asked
Avoid
- Reusing a senior's proposal file with old headings
