The problem
Growers frequently sell without knowing what the same crop fetched that morning twenty kilometres away, and that information gap is worth real money to whoever holds it. Official price series exist in some places and are usually published too late to act on.

Fast price submission, aggregation with visible sample sizes, outlier resistant statistics, and trends.
Why the technology should stay simple
The difficulty here is not engineering, it is data quality and adoption. A simple, fast, reliable app that people actually use beats a sophisticated one they do not. Spend your effort on the submission flow taking under thirty seconds and on the aggregation being trustworthy.
The genuinely hard part
Trust. With few submissions per market, one wrong entry visibly distorts the figure, and there is an incentive for a buyer to report low prices. Use the median rather than the mean, show the sample size next to every figure, require a minimum count before publishing, and flag submissions far from recent local values.
How to evaluate it
Compare your aggregated prices against any official series that exists, and report the correlation and the lag. If none exists, collect ground truth yourself by visiting markets.
Design for the actual users
Low literacy, older devices, intermittent connectivity, and a language that is probably not English. Pictorial commodity selection and voice entry are not decoration here.
