STEP stands for Student Training in Engineering Program. Interns complete a challenging technical project, receive coaching and mentorship from Google engineers, and work in a pod based structure under two hosts. The minimum qualifications listed are one or two college computer science courses, programming experience in C++, Java, JavaScript or Python, and currently attending a university in North America. The internship is full time for 12 weeks, between May and August or between June and September. Google says the application opens in September of the year before the internship and stays open for about a month, and that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
