What it is
Arc connects companies, many of them US startups and tech firms, with remote developers, designers and marketers. Engineers create a profile, go through Arc's vetting, and are then recommended to clients for either freelance contracts or full-time remote roles.
Free for developers
Arc's developer page states: "No, Arc is completely free. There is no cost to use the platform nor when you land a job through Arc" (source: arc.dev/developers, as of 2026-09). Companies pay Arc.
How vetting works (as published, 2026-09)
Arc says developers take a communication test to check English proficiency, and freelance applicants also have a domain expertise interview. It notes that "experts with 5+ years of industry experience and excellent English communication do best in Arc's vetting". Once vetted, you can be recommended directly to clients, which Arc says can skip early screening stages.
Freelance or full-time
- Freelance: contracts that Arc says range from four weeks to a year, paid at your hourly rate.
- Full-time: remote salaried roles with direct access to hiring managers.
This makes Arc relevant to both options on the remote jobs roadmap.
Is it worth your time?
For mid-level and senior engineers, yes: it is free and puts you in front of companies that already hire remotely. For juniors, you can create a profile and browse, but expect the vetting and client interviews to favour experience.
How to use it well
- Complete your profile with the same details as your resume, including your time zone and overlap.
- Prepare for the communication test as seriously as the technical part.
- Set a realistic rate or salary expectation after researching the market.
- Keep searching other channels while you wait for matches.
Common questions

Can I use it from outside the US? Arc says it has talent in many countries; check eligibility on each role.
