Who this is
Arslan Ahmad is a co-founder of DesignGurus.io and the creator of the Grokking series on system design and coding interviews, which a very large number of engineers have used to prepare. He is currently at Amazon, and has worked at Meta, Microsoft and Hulu, building and scaling distributed systems, developing data storage infrastructure, and shipping applications used by millions.
What he coaches on
Data structures and algorithms, system design and distributed systems, interview strategy, and the leadership and career side for people moving up rather than across. Sessions are offered for roles from software engineer through staff engineer, tech lead, solutions architect and principal engineer, and for loops at Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, LinkedIn, Oracle and Salesforce.
What a session is for
The specific problem the material cannot solve. A course teaches the pattern; a coach tells you why your particular answer is not landing, which is usually something you cannot see yourself. Designs that are technically fine but delivered without structure, coding solutions that arrive silently, candidates aiming a level below what their experience supports.
How to get value from it
Come with a real design or a real failed interview rather than a general request to be assessed. Do the course work first, because a coaching hour spent teaching sliding window is an hour badly spent.
Best for: candidates who have prepared seriously and want an expert read on what is still missing.
