What it is

A large, well maintained link collection covering scalability, availability, stability, performance and the practices around them, grouped by topic and pointing mostly at original engineering blog posts and papers.

Why an index is valuable

Most system design material is summary of summary. When you want to know how a company solved a problem, the write up by the team that solved it is almost always better than the article about it, and finding that write up is the hard part. This is the finding aid.

How to use it

Do not read it top to bottom. Come to it with a specific question, take the two or three primary sources it points at, and leave.

Best for: engineers who have hit the limits of introductory material and want the sources.

Stuck on something specific?

Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Every session is free; a few slots open each week.
