Bayt.com is a large job board for the Middle East and North Africa. Companies across the Gulf and the wider region post roles there, from banks and telecoms to software houses and start-ups. For someone planning a move to the Gulf, it is one of the first places to look, both for applying and for understanding the market.
Who it is for
A CS graduate or early-career developer from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt or Nigeria who is thinking about the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Qatar. It is also useful if you are not ready to apply yet: reading fifty real job ads tells you which skills, certifications and years of experience Gulf employers actually ask for.
How to use it well
- Build a complete profile and upload a clean CV. Recruiters search profiles, so fill in your skills, location and the countries you are willing to move to.
- Filter by country and role. Search for "software engineer", "cloud engineer", "data engineer" or "cybersecurity" and filter by the country you want.
- Read the ad for clues about visa and location. Some roles are only open to people already in the country, or to nationals. Others say the company provides a visa. Apply where you meet the stated requirements.
- Research the company outside Bayt. Look at its website and LinkedIn page before you apply or share documents.
- Use it as market research. Note recurring skills (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, security certifications, Arabic as a plus) and plan your learning around them.
Honest expectations
Gulf hiring often favours people with a few years of experience, and many roles prefer candidates who are already in the region. A fresh graduate applying from abroad will get fewer replies than an experienced engineer. That is normal, not a sign you are doing it wrong. A focused portfolio and well-targeted applications beat sending hundreds of CVs.
Common mistakes and scams
- Paying for a job, visa or "processing". Real employers in the Gulf pay for your work permit and visa. Anyone asking you for money, however small, is not a real recruiter.
- Trusting an offer without an interview. A job offer after one WhatsApp chat is a warning sign.
- Sending passport copies too early. Share personal documents only once you have checked the company is real and you have a written offer.
- Applying to everything. Recruiters see repeat, untargeted applications. Pick roles you match.
