Brackeys
One of the best-known game development channels on YouTube. Brackeys made hundreds of Unity tutorials until 2020, then returned in 2024 with Godot tutorials, including a full beginner course on making a game in Godot and a GDScript course. The friendly, fast-paced style suits beginners.

What it is
Brackeys is a YouTube channel that taught a generation of hobbyists to make games. From its start until a farewell in 2020 it published hundreds of Unity tutorials on movement, cameras, UI, shaders and more. In April 2024 the channel returned, now focused on Godot, with a beginner course on making a first game in Godot followed by a course on GDScript, as reported by the Godot forum and games press at the time.
Is it worth watching?
For Godot learners, the newer videos are a clear, enjoyable introduction. The "how to make a video game in Godot" course takes you from nothing to a small platformer in one sitting, and the GDScript course fills in the language.
For Unity learners, the older videos are still a good way to understand ideas such as character controllers, cameras and UI, but many use Unity versions from before 2020. Expect differences in the editor, the old Input Manager instead of the Input System, and renamed APIs. Check the Unity docs when something does not match.
How to get the most from it
- Watch once, then build the project yourself without the video, pausing only when stuck.
- After the video, add one feature it does not cover.
- Prefer the official docs when a video and the docs disagree for your engine version.
Time
Individual videos are 10 to 30 minutes; the Godot beginner course is a few hours.

Common questions
Is Brackeys still making Unity content? No. New content is Godot focused; the Unity videos remain online.
Is it enough on its own? No. It is a great start. Follow it with the official tutorials and your own small games.
Where it fits in the Sefism roadmap
For Godot members, Brackeys is a practice pick in the programming stage: follow the beginner course once, then rebuild the platformer from memory with one change of your own, such as a double jump or a new enemy. For Unity members, the archive is useful background when an idea in the Junior Programmer pathway does not click, as long as you check the current API names.
