What it is
Campus China is the official website and application system of the China Scholarship Council, the body that manages Chinese Government Scholarships for international students. Applicants use it to submit scholarship applications for study at Chinese universities, at bachelor, master and doctoral level and for shorter programmes.
How the scholarship works
There are several routes, and each has its own agency number and rules:
- Bilateral programmes, where you apply through the Chinese embassy in your country or your government's scholarship body, which nominates candidates.
- Chinese university programmes, where you apply to a participating university, which nominates candidates.
- Other special programmes for particular regions or fields.
As an example of an official current notice, the Chinese embassy in Indonesia's call for 2026/2027 bilateral scholarships asked applicants to apply online at Campus China by 8 February 2026, described a full scholarship that did not include international travel, and set age limits of 35 for master's and 40 for doctoral applicants. Rules differ by country and route, so read the notice from your own embassy or target university.
How to use it well
- Find the current notice from your country's Chinese embassy or from your target university.
- Note the agency number for your route; you need it in the online application.
- Prepare the study plan, recommendation letters, physical examination form and other documents listed.
- For research degrees, contact potential supervisors at target universities; an acceptance letter can strengthen your application.
Is it worth it?
For students interested in China, yes: it can cover tuition, accommodation, a living allowance and insurance, depending on the type. Many programmes in computer science are taught in English, though Chinese language skills help daily life.
Free or paid
Applying through Campus China is free. Be wary of agents charging fees to apply on your behalf.
Common questions
Which route should I use? It depends on your country and university; the embassy notice and the university's international office explain the options.
Is the website reachable everywhere? Access can be slow from some networks; start early and keep copies of everything you submit.
