Carrd

A simple builder for one-page websites, well suited to a landing page or waitlist that tests demand before you build anything. The free plan is enough to try an idea, and the low-cost paid plans add custom domains and forms.

What it is

Carrd is a website builder for single-page sites: landing pages, personal pages and simple product pages. You pick a template, edit blocks visually and publish. It is deliberately limited, which is the point: you can have a clean page live in an afternoon without writing code.

Why use it for an indie product

The cheapest way to test whether anyone wants your product is to describe it clearly on one page and ask people to act: join a waitlist, pre-order or book a call. Building that page in your own framework is tempting, but it is time you should spend talking to people. Carrd lets you ship the page fast, change the headline ten times and measure what happens.

Free versus paid (as of 2026-09)

  • Free: build and publish sites on a carrd.co address with Carrd branding.
  • Pro Lite: from $9 a year, removes branding but has no custom domains or forms.
  • Pro Standard: from $19 a year, adds custom domains, forms, widgets and analytics. This is the tier most people need for a real waitlist.
  • Pro Plus: higher tiers with advanced forms and more sites.

A seven-day trial of Pro features is available. Prices are from carrd.com/pro and can change; check before you buy.

What you can do with it

  • A waitlist page with an email form connected to an email tool.
  • A pre-order page with a payment link from your payment provider.
  • Two versions of a headline, to see which gets more sign-ups.

Limits

It is for one-page sites. When your product needs a real marketing site with documentation, a blog and pricing pages, you will likely move to your own site or a larger builder. That is fine: the landing page has done its job by then.

Common questions

Do I need a custom domain to validate? Not strictly, but a real domain makes the page more credible and makes email deliverability easier.

Can I take payments on Carrd? Carrd can embed payment buttons and forms on paid plans; the payment itself is handled by a provider such as Stripe, PayPal or a merchant of record.
