Red Teaming LLM Applications
A short DeepLearning.AI course, built with Giskard, on finding weaknesses in LLM applications through manual and automated testing, ending with a full assessment of an example app. A quick, practical first look at how AI red teaming is done responsibly on your own systems.

What the course covers
Red Teaming LLM Applications is a short course from DeepLearning.AI, made with Giskard and taught by Matteo Dora and Luca Martial from Giskard. It runs to about an hour and a half across seven video lessons with five code examples. It walks through an overview of common LLM application vulnerabilities, manual red teaming, automating parts of the process, prompt injection as a class of risk, and finally a full red team assessment of an example application.
Is it worth your time?
For someone starting the AI security path, yes. It is short, free to enrol at the time of writing, and it shows the whole shape of the work in one sitting: decide what you are looking for, probe the application, automate what you can, and write up what you found. That structure is more valuable than any individual trick, and it transfers directly to testing your own practice app.
Watch it with a builder's mindset. For every weakness shown, ask what design choice would have made it harmless: narrower tools, untrusted output handling, permission checks before retrieval, or a human approval step. And apply what you learn only to applications you own or are authorised to test.
Prerequisites
Basic Python is recommended. Some understanding of how an LLM app is put together (system prompt, retrieval, the code that uses the answer) makes the lessons easier to follow.
How long does it take?
About 90 minutes of video, plus whatever time you spend running the examples. Budget an evening, then another to repeat the ideas against your own small app.
What can you do afterwards?
You should be able to plan a simple, authorised red team pass on your own LLM app, explain the difference between manual and automated testing, and turn what you find into test cases that run on every change. Pair it with promptfoo or garak to build that suite, and with the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications for the full list of risks.

Common questions
Is this enough to get an AI security job? No single short course is. Treat it as an introduction, then build and secure your own app to create evidence.
Does it teach attacks on real products? No. It uses example applications, which is exactly the right habit to keep.

Stuck on something specific?
Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Sessions are free for approved Sefism members, and a few slots open each week.
