DeepLearning.AI (YouTube channel)
The official channel of DeepLearning.AI, founded by Andrew Ng, with lectures from its Coursera programmes including the Deep Learning Specialization and the Machine Learning Specialization, plus recorded events and conversations. The lectures are calm, structured and strong on intuition. It suits beginners and intermediate learners who want a trusted, course-like grounding in machine learning and deep learning.

What the channel covers
DeepLearning.AI was founded in 2017 by Andrew Ng to fill a need for high-quality AI education. Its YouTube channel hosts videos from its Coursera programmes on machine learning, along with recorded events, conference sessions and conversations with researchers. The lecture style is Andrew Ng's: slow, clear and focused on why an idea works before how to code it.
The channel is not a replacement for the full courses (the graded labs and quizzes live on the course platforms), but the lectures alone are enough to build solid understanding.
Playlists to start with
The Deep Learning Specialization lectures are on the channel as five playlists, one per course, in this order:
- Neural Networks and Deep Learning (Course 1 of the Deep Learning Specialization)
- Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization (Course 2 of the Deep Learning Specialization)
- Structuring Machine Learning Projects (Course 3 of the Deep Learning Specialization)
- Convolutional Neural Networks (Course 4 of the Deep Learning Specialization)
- Sequence Models (Course 5 of the Deep Learning Specialization)
Other useful playlists:
- Machine Learning Specialization by Andrew Ng: the gentler starting point if you have not done machine learning before.
- Machine Learning Engineering for Production (MLOps): what changes when models leave the notebook.
- Heroes of Deep Learning and Conversations with Andrew Ng: interviews with well-known researchers.
- AI Dev 26 x SF: The Future of Software Engineering and AI Dev 25 x NYC: Full Conference Sessions & Panels: recent event talks.
Who it suits
Students who want a respected, structured introduction; developers who want to understand what sits under the AI tools they use; and anyone who found other channels too fast. Course 3, on structuring machine learning projects, is short and useful even for experienced engineers.
How to learn from it without getting stuck in tutorial loops
- Follow one specialisation in order rather than sampling.
- Pair lectures with code. After each week of lectures, implement the idea yourself in a notebook, since the YouTube videos do not include the graded labs.
- Keep a one-page summary per course: the key ideas, the formulas you needed and the mistakes you made.
- Finish with a project on your own data before moving to the next course.
Pair it with on Sefism
- Use the Machine learning roadmap and its cheat sheet to place each course in a wider plan.
- The full graded versions are listed in the library as the Machine Learning Specialization and Mathematics for Machine Learning and Data Science Specialization.
- For the LLM era, the short courses Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI lead into the AI engineering roadmap.
Best for: learners who want a calm, trusted, course-style foundation in machine learning and deep learning.

Stuck on something specific?
Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Sessions are free for approved Sefism members, and a few slots open each week.
