What is different about the management loop
It is broader and the weighting is inverted. Technical rounds still exist and often still include coding, but the rounds that decide the outcome are about people and delivery: how you handled an underperformer, how you set priorities against a deadline you did not agree with, how you grew someone into a promotion.
What it covers
The people management scenarios, project and execution questions, technical depth appropriate to a manager, the coding component where it applies, and the cross functional collaboration rounds that first time management candidates most often underestimate.
The thing candidates get wrong
Answering people questions with what they would do rather than what they did. Hypotheticals read as inexperience. The preparation work is largely assembling real situations from your history and structuring them.
Best for: engineers moving into management, and managers changing companies.

Stuck on something specific?
Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Every session is free; a few slots open each week.
