What is different about the management loop

The engineering manager loop is broader than an engineering one, and the weighting is inverted. Technical rounds still exist and often include coding and system design, but the rounds that usually decide the outcome are about people and delivery: how you handled an underperformer, how you set priorities against a deadline you did not agree with, how you grew someone into a promotion, how you ran a project that went wrong.

This roadmap brings those pieces into one ordered path.

What is in the roadmap

The path bundles six courses, together more than 80 chapters and 674 lessons:

How to work through it

1. Start with the Engineering Manager Interview course to understand the whole loop and what each round assesses.
2. Build your story bank early. Write real situations from your own experience for each question category the course lays out. Answering people questions with what you did, rather than what you would do, is what interviewers look for.
3. Refresh coding with the coding course, a little each day, since manager coding rounds reward fluency over speed.
4. Work through system design next, practising aloud and drawing diagrams.
5. Add microservices patterns if the roles you target involve distributed systems.
6. Finish with the leadership course if you are aiming above the first management level.

A realistic plan for the full path alongside a job is six to ten weeks, adjusting to how rusty your coding is.

You should be able to walk into each round knowing what it measures, answer people questions with structured real examples, hold your own in coding and design rounds, and present yourself at the level you are targeting.
