Fiverr
A freelance marketplace where you list services as Gigs with fixed packages and buyers find and order them, rather than you applying to job posts. It suits clearly packaged services such as landing pages, bug fixes, scripts or design tasks. Selling is free to start; Fiverr keeps 20 percent of each order and pays out after a clearing period.

How Fiverr works
On Fiverr you create Gigs: a service listing with a title starting "I will", up to three pricing packages, a description, requirements and a gallery of images. Buyers search, compare Gigs and order. You can also receive briefs, where a buyer describes a project and Fiverr sends it to a few matched freelancers who reply with custom offers. It is the opposite of Upwork's model: buyers come to your shop rather than you applying to their posts.
What it costs and how you get paid (as of 2026-09)
From Fiverr's help centre:
- Your share: freelancers receive 80% of what the buyer pays for an order, including extras and tips. Buyers pay their own service fee on top.
- Clearance: earnings become available 14 days after an order completes, or 7 days for Top Rated, Seller Plus and Pro freelancers.
- Payouts: PayPal ($0 fee, $1 minimum), bank transfer via Payoneer ($1 fee, $20 minimum) or a Payoneer account ($3 fee, $10 minimum), up to $5,000 per withdrawal. You must be 18 or over to withdraw.
- Order timing: after you deliver, the buyer has three days to accept or ask for changes before the order completes automatically.
Seller levels
Levels are earned automatically from six metrics. Level 1 needs a Success Score of 5+, a 4.4+ rating, an 80% response rate, 5 orders, 3 unique clients and $400 earned. Level 2 needs 7+, 4.6+, 90%, 20 orders, 10 clients and $2,000. Top Rated needs 9+, 4.7+, 90%, 40 orders, 20 clients and $10,000, plus a manual review. New sellers can have 4 Gigs; Level 1 and 2 can have 10.
Is it right for you?
Fiverr fits services you can describe precisely with a fixed price and delivery time. It fits less well for open-ended work. The first orders are the hard part: search favours Gigs with history, so beginners do best with a narrow Gig, honest portfolio images, clear packages and fast replies. Many popular categories are crowded, so check competing Gigs before you choose yours.
Rules to know before you start
Communication outside Fiverr is only permitted once an order exists, and payments outside Fiverr are against the terms. Fiverr also warns never to give anyone remote access to your device. One withdrawal method can be linked to only one account; using it on several accounts can get them all disabled.
Common questions
How long until my first order? There is no fixed answer; it depends on demand, competition and your Gig. Plan for weeks, not days.
Should I underprice to get started? A slightly lower launch price is common, but remember you keep 80%, so a $5 order pays you $4.
Is PayPal available to me? It depends on your country. PayPal does not operate in Pakistan or Bangladesh, for example; Payoneer is the usual route there.
