What it is
freelancers.gov.bd is Bangladesh's official platform for registering freelancers and issuing a Freelancer ID. It is implemented by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division and the Department of ICT. The ID is described as official proof of identity, income and professional engagement for people who earn through freelance and remote work.
Who can apply
According to the application guide (October 2026), you must:
- be a citizen of Bangladesh with a valid National ID (NID) card;
- have at least USD 50 of verified income in the last twelve months;
- provide valid proof of that income.
There is no application fee. Each ID is valid for three years and must be renewed, and renewal needs the same minimum verified income.
What it is for
The platform says the ID is meant to make it easier for freelancers to access banking services, loans and credit, incentives and training, and to be recognised professionally. Banks may still ask for financial documents or proof of income when you use it. The digital card carries a QR code so others can verify it.
Why it matters for AI data work
Platform contractors are often invisible to banks: income arrives from abroad through payment services, with no employer letter. Keeping clean payout records and holding an official freelancer ID gives you a recognised way to show that income. Payouts from AI data and training platforms count as freelance income you can document, as long as they arrive through traceable channels.
How to apply
- Collect statements showing your freelance income: platform payout history and bank or payment service records.
- Sign up on the official site, fill in your details and upload your documents.
- After verification by the Freelancer ID team, you are emailed when the digital ID can be downloaded.
Caution
Use only freelancers.gov.bd. Look-alike sites with similar addresses have been reported, and the real ID is free.
Best for: freelancers and remote contractors in Bangladesh who want official recognition of their income.
