What it is

The University of Helsinki's web development course, published free in English, taught through a long sequence of exercises that build real applications rather than through lectures.

Why the quality is unusually high

It is a real university course with real standards, updated continuously, and the exercises are hard enough that finishing a part means something. The scope is also broader than most bootcamp material, taking in testing, continuous integration, containers, TypeScript and GraphQL rather than stopping at a working front end.

What to expect

It moves quickly and assumes you can program. The React and Node sections are the core; the later parts on TypeScript, testing and continuous integration are where it pulls ahead of nearly everything else available free.

Best for: developers who already know some programming and want a rigorous, current, free full stack curriculum.
