Google Tech Dev Guide

What changed

As of September 2026, the original techdevguide.withgoogle.com address redirects to the Resources page of Google Careers' "Build your future" section for students. That page loads its content dynamically and describes itself as curated material including playlists and technical development resources. The individual Tech Dev Guide paths that many career services still link to (such as the interview preparation path) may no longer be available at their old addresses, so expect to start from the new Resources page.

What the guide offered

The Tech Dev Guide was Google's free curated path through computer science foundations and interview preparation. Rather than a single course, it collected material from Google and from external sources (university courses, videos, coding challenges) and sequenced it into paths. University career services such as Duke's continue to list it as a recommended resource for students preparing for technical internships.

Its value was the sequencing and the signal: a large employer saying which fundamentals matter, with free material chosen for each.

Why it is still worth a look

• Credible signal. What Google puts in front of students tells you what it considers foundational: data structures, algorithms, problem solving, and practice explaining your approach.
• Free. Everything linked is free to use.
• Google-specific interview guidance. Google Careers also publishes interview tips on how its interviews run and how to prepare, which is useful alongside the resources page if you are applying there.

Its limitations

It is a guide to other resources more than a course, so the experience is a set of links rather than one voice teaching you, and you will need to track your own progress. The move to the Careers site means some older links may be broken.

• Start on the Build your future Resources page and Google's interview tips page.
• Pick one fundamentals resource and one practice resource from it, rather than opening everything.
