What changes at this level

Below it, you are asked how you managed a team. At this level you are asked how you built an organisation: how you structured it, how you set technical direction across teams you do not run, how you handled a reorganisation, how you made a decision with incomplete information and significant cost either way.

What it covers

Organisational design and scaling, technical strategy, influence without authority, executive communication, handling ambiguity and conflict at scale, and the calibration of scope that determines which level an offer comes in at.

Why scope decides the outcome

Leadership interviews down level people constantly, and the reason is almost always that their examples were smaller in scope than the role required. Choosing which stories to tell is a larger part of the preparation than polishing them.

Best for: senior managers, directors and staff plus engineers moving into leadership roles.
