interviewing.io
A platform for anonymous mock interviews with senior, staff and principal engineers from large tech companies, covering coding, system design, machine learning, behavioural and management rounds, plus a free library of recorded mock interview replays and an AI interviewer. It suits candidates in the final weeks before real interviews who want realistic practice and detailed feedback from people who make hiring decisions.

What it offers
- Paid mock interviews with interviewers the site describes as senior, staff or principal engineers and managers who make hiring decisions at large tech companies. Sessions run in a shared coding environment with audio and chat but no video, and are anonymous on both sides; afterwards you can choose to unmask and connect.
- Interview types: algorithms and data structures, system design, machine learning, front-end, engineering management, behavioural, and staff-level and above, plus company-specific mocks (Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Apple, Netflix and others).
- Dedicated coaching: multi-session packages for Amazon, Google and Meta, with a lesson plan built around you.
- AI Interviewer: coding and system design interviews run by AI with feedback at the end, with more than 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview, which the interviewing.io team co-wrote.
- Free content: a library of recorded mock interview replays, company process guides, popular interview questions with explanations, and a blog with data from its interviews.
Signals from the site
The mocks page says interviewing.io has hosted 100,000 mock interviews and helped 10,000 engineers get jobs, and every replay is shared with permission from both participants. These are the company's own figures (September 2026).
The underrated part: free replays
Almost every candidate builds a mental model of a good interview from imagination, and the imagined version is far more polished than the real thing. Watching a real mock where the candidate struggles, recovers and still does well, then one where a strong coder fails on communication, recalibrates expectations faster than reading about it.
When the paid mocks are worth it
They are valuable at a specific moment: after the pattern work is done and a few weeks before the real loop. Booking them earlier mostly buys you the discovery that you are not ready yet. They are paid (check the site for current prices by interview type) and cost far more than free peer practice, so plan one to three sessions for the rounds that matter most rather than many.
How to use it well
- Watch five or six replays in your target interview type before booking anything.
- Do free peer mocks first (for example on Pramp) to get over the nerves of speaking while coding.
- Book a paid mock two to three weeks before your loop, then use the feedback to focus the remaining time.
- Try the AI interviewer for extra timed practice between human sessions.
- Read the company process guide for each company you are interviewing with.
Common questions
Is the anonymity useful? Yes. It lowers the pressure and makes feedback more candid. There is no video, so body language is not assessed.
Is it useful for candidates outside the US? The sessions are online and the practice applies anywhere. Interviewers are mostly from US-based companies, so calibration is towards those loops.
Best for: the two to three weeks immediately before real interviews, and anyone who wants to see what real interviews look like through the replays.

Stuck on something specific?
Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Sessions are free for approved Sefism members, and a few slots open each week.
