What it is
A compensation database built from self reported offers, broken down by company, level, location and the components of the package, along with the mapping between one company's level names and another's.
Why the level mapping is the most valuable part
Titles mean nothing across companies. A senior engineer at one employer maps to a different band, scope and number at another, and candidates routinely accept a level that looks like a promotion and is not. Seeing the mapping is what makes an offer comparable.
How to read the data carefully
It is self reported, which biases it upward and toward larger employers and higher earners. Use the medians rather than the top of the range, filter to your location, and treat it as a well informed estimate rather than a quote.
Best for: anyone with an offer, anyone about to name a number, and anyone deciding whether their current pay is fair.
